In 1970 thirteen boy's teams participated in the first ever BCI tournament. Since that time over 40 states have been represented in BCI tournaments in addition to teams from five provinces of Canada and Mexico as well as Austria and Scotland. BCI has established an excellent reputation for strong competition, first class facilities and best organized tournaments in the country. BCI means quality. Just ask the more than 10,000 teams that have participated in BCI tournaments. BCI Summer Nationals are NCAA sanctioned tournaments for players fourteen years and older. This sanctioning provides opportunity for players to be seen by division one college coaches, not to mention all the other college coaches and scouts represented at BCI Summer Nationals.

More than 150 players who came up through the ranks of BCI now play or have played in the National Basketball Association. Over 13% of current NBA players are former BCI graduates, including such standouts as Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Mike Bibby, Gary Payton, and Kenny Anderson.

With the addition of the WNBA, such former BCI players as Lisa Leslie, Angela Aycock, Niesa Johnson, Lynn Pride, Tamisha Jackson, and Tamika Catchings are now playing at the next level.
